EL TRABAJO BILINGÜE EN EL AULA

 En este curso el equipo bilingüe se ha propuesto compartir cada trimestre una muestra de cómo se trabaja el bilingüismo en el centro.

De este modo, cada uno de los trimestres iremos mostrando una rutina, dinámica o actividad, con el fin de acercar a toda la comunidad educativa las buenas practicas y las actividades realizadas en clase.

La entrada consta de dos partes, una en castellano y una segunda parte en inglés.

En la clase de segundo, ¡nos divertimos a la vez que aprendemos Ciencias Naturales!

En el primer trimestre de Ciencias Naturales con la señorita Mónica y el profesor auxiliar de conversación, Elliot, hemos estado aprendiendo acerca de las partes del cuerpo humano.

Las tres partes más importantes que hemos aprendido son: algunos huesos , músculos y las articulaciones.

El aprendizaje ha sido divertido, para ello, la señorita Mónica ha diseñado un atractivo proyecto en el que han participado todos los alumnos. De este modo, podemos comprobar lo que aprendemos a la vez que lo pasamos bien.

 

 En primer lugar, trazamos la silueta de un alumno a modo de póster, para así ver cómo resulta  nuestro cuerpo humano.

 

A continuación, a cada estudiante se le asigna una parte del cuerpo que tendrá que escribir y colorear en un trozo de cartulina para etiquetar ese póster que pegaremos en la pared.

  Cuando cada alumno finalice su etiqueta, participará colocando y pegando cada parte específica en el lugar correspondiente del póster.

 

 

Finalmente, tendrán que recordar diciendo oralmente de qué parte se trata y señalándola además en su propio cuerpo.

 Natural Science is fun! In the first trimester of Natural Science with Teacher Monica and Teacher Elliot,

 we’ve been learning about the human body!

 The three most important parts that we learn are: parts of the body such as muscles, bones, and joints! 

 Learning should be fun, so Teacher Elliot and Monica designed a fun art project that

ALL students can participate in. 

That way, we can see what we are learning while having a great time! Let me show you..

 

First we trace the human body on a giant sheet of paper so that we can see what our human body looks like!

Next, each student is assigned a part of the body and has to create a label, and color that label.

By doing this, each student has to participate in a specific part and remember where that part is!

Finally! Each student has to remember which part they colored, and stick it on the correct part of the body! 

Each student has a chance to participate and create a master human body! How fun!

Hello to parents, family members, colleagues, and acquaintances in the community of Puerto de La Torre, Malaga. I’m very excited to assist CEIP Salvador Allende as an English assistant by helping the young students with English, Natural, and Social Science courses.  

My name is Teacher Elliot and I’m from a small town called Ladysmith in the state of  Wisconsin, United States.  Before moving to Spain in 2020, I spent all 26 years of my life living in Wisconsin ranging from the rural countryside,  to urban America in a city called Milwaukee (nearby Chicago). I went to the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where I studied Geography.

 

Somehow when I was a little boy, I discovered the novel of Don Quixote, even though most Americans have no idea what that is. I’ve been interested in the country of Spain since I was very young! I wanted to learn more about the Spanish language so I started traveling to Latin America in the year 2013.  I became completely fascinated with the Hispanic culture and the vastness of the Spanish language, also known as Castellano.  From there I decided to start studying Spanish, and I enrolled at beginner-level Spanish courses in the University because I really wanted to explore Latin America more.  In 2015, I studied abroad (en el extranjero) in the little tropical country of Costa Rica in Central America.  It was truly a life-changing experience that I'll never forget. In fact, I fell in love with Costa Rica so much that I returned there 5 separate times!  Pura Vida! As such, my fascination with the Spanish-speaking world has continued here into Spain, where I’ve been the last two years!

 

My goal is to enrich the classroom with a valuable bilingual teacher (although I will only use English) who has a strong bi-cultural identity.  I understand not only the Spanish speaking culture and stratosphere, but also the anglo-speaking world as a native speaker.  I will bring energy, enthusiasm, and multiple years of experience working with children and adults ages 4 - 22. I value and enjoy hands-on teaching  and love to incorporate culture and practical English learning and speaking into the classroom by showing how English is important to learn as the lingua-franca, while simultaneously helping show the importance of their native language - Spanish.   Additionally, I'm excited to be a part of the education system in Andalucía and in particular Málaga. I understand that while Andalucía is a part of Spain, it has its own specific and special cultural phenomenons that fit into the education system and models particular to the region.  

 

 

Feel free to say hi to me in English or Spanish if you ever see me passing by - I love the “small town” culture where “mi casa es tu casa.” It’s what makes Malaga one of the best cities in the world to live in.  Un saludo a todos!

PORFOLIO EUROPEO DE LAS LENGUAS

 Durante el curso 2021-2022 el centro  CEIP Salvador Allende va a realizar un esfuerzo por realizar la  autoformación e implementación del PEL.

La puesta en marcha  y en práctica de este instrumento de evaluación, se hace necesaria en los tiempos que corren y aporta muchos beneficios para el alumnado, entre los que podemos destacar:

- Hacer al alumnado el centro de su proceso de aprendizaje. 

- Crear vínculos de unión y una mejor coordinación entre todas las lenguas que conviven en nuestro centro educativo.

-Mejorar y fomentar la competencia lingüística.

-Crear un documento que acompañará al alumnado durante su etapa escolar. De este modo verá su propia evolución, siendo  aún más consciente de su aprendizaje.

-Introducción de las nuevas tecnologías, para la realización de un portfolio digital en el tercer ciclo.

Somos consciente de que para que cualquier cambio se produzca en el centro es necesario implicar e informar a todos los elementos que componen la comunidad educativa de nuestro centro educativo.

De este modo, se ha informado tanto al equipo técnico, ciclos, claustro, consejo escolar y alumnado.

Comparto en esta entrada las presentaciones creadas por el equipo bilingüe del centro, con el fin de acercar el PEL tanto a las familias como a el alumnado.

CURSO 2021- 2022

 Comenzamos este curso cargados de ilusión y con las mochilas cargadas de optimismo. 

La pandemia aún sigue presente en nuestro día a día, pero la situación actual nos ofrece rayos de esperanza y optimismo.

Durante este curso el equipo bilingüe se propone formarse y comenzar la implementación del Portfolio de las lenguas.

Este instrumento de evaluación forma ya parte del día a día, en institutos, universidades, incluso está sustituyendo a los currículum en la solicitudes de empleo. 

Movidos por la necesidad de continuar con la mejora del proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje y ofrecer a los estudiantes las herramientas necesarias para llegar a ser su mejor versión.

A lo largo del curso, seguiremos realizando diferentes entradas, para compartir con toda la comunidad educativa nuestro trabajo y las metas conseguidas.

TIEMPOS DE CAMBIO

 ¨Me quedaré hasta que cambie el viento¨ Esta era un de frases favoritas de Mary Poppins. Con ella explicaba la necesidad de permanecer en un lugar cumpliendo su función hasta que cambiaran las circunstancias, y su presencia ya no fuera tan necesaria. Había proporcionado las herramientas para que los demás pudieran caminar solos.

Mi recorrido en la enseñanza bilingüe y responsable de dicho proyecto comenzó en el año 2006, hace literalmente, 15 años. Al principio, he de reconocer que me abrumó tanta información y novedad. La curiosidad y la inquietud   por aprender más de aquel programa nuevo no pudieron con el miedo inicial. No dejé que me paralizara. Hubo muchos momentos de gran dificultad que fueron siempre un revulsivo para continuar. Estas emociones se tornaron en un enamoramiento progresivo donde puse toda mi fuerza y fe. El cambio ya se había producido: me había convertido en una maestra bilingüe apasionada y estaba dispuesta, como todo enamorado/a, a compartir y promulgar ¨ a los cuatro vientos¨ cual era el objeto de mi amor: El bilingüismo. Así lo hice.

Colaboré con muchos compañeros a través de la formación en contar las bellezas y toda la riqueza que traía este programa. Durante el proceso, crecí, aprendí y conocí gente maravillosa en el camino. Fueron muchas las personas que me apoyaron y las que les debo mi más sincero y profundo agradecimiento en los distintos centros bilingües donde he trabajado:  Ceip Valdelecrín, Ceip María Zambrano y mi centro actual, Ceip Salvador Allende.

Trabajar con los  Ceps del ámbito regional y sus profesionales, la creación de BILITRAMS con mis compañeras de los colegios  de la zona, participar  con la Consejería en el Programa PLC, contribuir con las docentes de la UMA en los programas europeos...Han sido auténticos regalos que llenaron este camino de momentos únicos e inolvidables. Sin olvidar nunca a todos los auxiliares con los que he vivido muchas aventuras, mis prácticos y el AMPA Los Almendros, siempre apoyando  las propuestas que se han hecho desde la coordinación bilingüe de nuestro centro. En suma, un gran aprendizaje vital y profesional. He sido muy afortunada al contar con muchos Sanchos que me apoyaran en mi labor Quijotesca.

Ahora, esta humilde servidora, desea disfrutar de sus alumnos y reposar con los libros, viviendo, sintiendo y creando otras vidas…Una sola nunca es suficiente.

Toca pasar  el testigo a otras personas que aportarán y traerán aires nuevos. Lo hago con la alegría y la  certeza de que lo hice lo mejor que pude, y supe.

Goodbye to Salvador Allende!

I can’t believe that my time at Salvador Allende is already over. I have learned so much and had lots of fun over the past school year, and I will dearly miss all of the teachers and students at this wonderful school!

 

Over the course of this year, I have been assisting the bilingual teachers in a variety of classes. It was so fun to be able to participate in lots of subjects, including English, Natural and Social Sciences, Music, and Physical Education. I learned so many great things from all of the teachers; not only information about all the topics we were studying in class, but also different teaching styles. It was also amazing to be able to contribute to the classes,preparing a range of activities including songs, videos, games, and worksheets in order to help the students with their written and spoken English.

 

Even though the Covid restrictions made teaching a bit more difficult, and I was only able to work with one year group at a time, it was still really nice to be able to work intensely with each year individually. I got to know all of the students very well and I had so much fun being in lots of classes with the same group. To all of the students: you are all so fantastic! I hope you had lots of fun learning English and feel inspired to keep practicing your language skills!

 

I am sad to be saying goodbye, but still am so happy for the time that I had with you all. I consider myself very lucky to have been placed at Salvador Allende, and I am so grateful for my time here! The school has such a positive and amazing environment, and everyone was super kind and welcoming. A big thank you to all of the bilingual teachers and especially to Gracia, who has been so thoughtful, caring, and helpful throughout my time here. This experience has been so positive largely in thanks to you. I have also really loved being in Málaga, it is such a fantastic city and I have made so many great memories here! Thank you for letting me be a part of your school and your amazing city, I will miss all of you so much!

MY TIME WITH YEAR 5 BY TEACHER OLIVIA

                                                   

This past month I have been working in 5A and 5B with teachers Pedro and Luis. I have been helping in both English and Natural Sciences.

In Natural Sciences, we learned about the layers of the Earth and the atmosphere, then we played a game of Jeopardy to revise the topic. Next, we learned about all of the different climates in Spain. Finally, we studied ecosystems. We did some activities about identifying different ecosystems, where they are located, and the types of flora and fauna found in each one. I also organised a lesson about the importance of food chains and maintaining balance in an ecosystem. We did a worksheet to practice the content and then played a video game about food chains.

In English lessons, we have been learning the past continuous tense. We have been doing lots of different exercises: listening activities, practicing writing sentences, and talking using the past continuous. There have been a lot of opportunities to practice speaking, and I have been able to have one-on-one conversations with all the students to help improve their spoken English. We have also been learning lots of new vocabulary. The material has been very complex and I am highly impressed with the level of English in year 5.

I have had a lot of fun working with year 5. I will miss everyone a lot and am sad to say goodbye, but I am also looking forward to my time with year 6.

El pensamiento científico

 

En cuarto, hemos incorporado a nuestras unidades el desarrollo de experimentos y el pensamiento científico.

Nuestro proceso comienza con una question, una duda, una pregunta de cuya respuesta no estamos seguros.

Así, proponemos un experimento. Antes de realizarlo, debemos hacer una investigación previa, ingredientes del pan, bacterias , virus, cambiará dependiendo del experimento.

Entonces, llega la hipótesis, una teoría que puede estar acertada o no y no pasa nada sí nos equivocamos, hemos aprendido que lo importante es pensar, observar y compartir nuestras conclusiones.

Aquí os mostramos nuestro último experimento, en la unidad de las hábitos saludables, hemos descubierto lo que esconden dentro las rebanadas de pan y que no es lo mismo comer una clase que otra.
