Hello students,
staff, and families of CEIP Salvador Allende, My name is
Yasmine and I am very excited to be starting my first year as a language
assistant at CEIP Salvador Allende. I will be assisting the teachers and
students in English, Natural and Social Science classes.
I am from the
United States, specifically a small city called Surprise in the sunny state of
Arizona. I spent all my life in Surprise until I moved across the country to
Boston, Massachusetts where I attended Northeastern University and studied
Health Science and Psychology. I finished my studies in May 2022 and in October
both my friend and I moved to the town of Motril, Granada where we worked
together as language assistants at CEIP Francisco Mejias for the school year.
One of my
passions in life is traveling and experiencing new cultures. I feel that
passion stemmed from my mother and her mother as they both also loved to
travel. When I was a little girl one of my favorite movies was The Cheetah
Girls 2 on Disney Channel. In the movie, they traveled to Barcelona and I
remember watching the movie and telling my mother how much I wanted to visit
Barcelona so I could be just like them, singing and dancing in Park Güell. Two
years later, I traveled to Spain with my family for the first time where I
visited both Madrid and Barcelona. Even at my young age, I felt the magic of
Spain and was enamored by everything I saw. To this day, it is one of my
favorite childhood memories and I knew I wanted to come back one day. I was
fortunate enough to do just that, and not just to visit but to be able to live
and really immerse myself in the Spanish culture, but more specifically the
Andalucían culture!
Some of my goals
for this year is to improve my own teaching styles and get to know the students
individually, so I can understand how each student learns and teach in the best
way for them. I want to encourage an open and understanding atmosphere so the
students feel comfortable and confident in the classroom and are not afraid to
make mistakes. I also hope to help improve the students’ vocabulary, reading
and speaking skills, and overall appreciation of the English language and
American culture. Lastly, I hope to improve my Spanish and create meaningful
relationships with the students, staff, and community of Salvador Allende!
Please say hi in
english or spanish if you ever pass by me!
All my best,
Yasmine
Nuestra
A
Yasmine le encanta viajar y conocer nuevas culturas. Una de sus películas
favoritas cuando era niña era “The Cheetah Girls 2”.
