YASMINE
I have spent this school year as the auxiliar
for the 1st and 2nd cycle and I am very sad that my time has come to an end. My
time at Salvador Allende is one that I will never forget and will always
cherish. As this was my first year in Malaga, I didn’t know anyone so I was a
bit anxious for what was to come, but everyone in the Salvador Allende
community welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like I was right at home.
Every day, I would walk into class and be greeted with a smile from the teacher
and lots of hugs and excited ¨Hello¨s from the students. The staff is so great
and were always there to help me with whatever I needed, whether it was
professionally or personally.
As for my future plans, I will be returning
back home to Arizona to be with friends and family again. I also plan to return
to school to get my Master’s degree to pursue a career in public health, and
hopefully in the future I will return to Spain or somewhere in Europe for the
long term.
He
pasado este curso en primer y segundo ciclo, estoy muy triste porque ha llegado
el momento de irme. Nunca olvidaré mi
estancia en Salvador Allende. Era mi
primer año en Málaga, estaba un poco nerviosa, pero todo el mundo me recibió con los brazos abiertos y me hizo sentir en casa. Cada día que iba a clase, el profesorado me saludaba con una
sonrisa y los alumnos me abrazaban.
Todo el
personal ha sido estupendo y estaba siempre para ayudarme con lo que
necesitaba, en lo profesional y en lo personal.
Ha sido
muy gratificante, no sólo enseñar a los alumnos, también ver sus avances.
Estoy asombrada de lo inteligentes y especiales que son,
además ellos también me han enseñado mucho.
Antes de
llegar a España no tenía experiencia en la enseñanza, y ahora siento que tengo
una nueva pasión y amor.
Me ha encantado pensar en actividades creativas para ayudar a que los
niños y niñas aprendan de una forma divertida.
Espero que hayan disfrutado de las clases conmigo y mejorado sus
destrezas en inglés.
Mi
experiencia en Málaga realmente ha cambiado mi vida. Rápidamente me enamoré de Málaga y se ha convertido en mi ciudad favorita, con su gente, su cultura y su maravilloso clima.
En cuanto a mis planes futuros, regresaré a
Arizona para estar con mis amigos y familia.
Además tengo planeado volver a estudiar mi Master para la carrera de
Salud Pública y espero volver a España o a algún lugar de Europa para un largo
período de tiempo.

Dear staff, students, and parents,
And just like that, it is May which means my year with the students has come to an end. It has been a great year at Salvador Allende, full of laughter and learning, for both the students and me. I arrived a little late in the school year in November, not knowing what to expect in my second year as an English Auxiliar. Coming from the north of Spain, I was unsure how Andalucia would differ. However, I was excited to be in the lovely town of Puerto de la Torre. Based on the little Google told me, Puerto de la Torre was a hidden gem in Malaga. But what I received was more than what I could have expected. Thank you to the teachers, administrators, and lunch ladies for your kindness and community this past year. It has really touched my heart how caring and close everyone is towards each other. I don’t know what I will miss most– the conversations with my coworkers, the time spent during recreo, or the lunches.
And
as for the students, well, I am so incredibly moved by every single one of
them. Getting the opportunity to teach them in different subjects alongside
different teachers has sharpened my teaching skills for the better. It has been
so fun to do different science experiments with the students as well as grammar
games and challenges. I got to teach not only English, but also showcase my
American and Peruvian culture and history. Seeing them in awe of the different
dances, traditions, and customs of everyday life outside of Spain was a reward
in itself. I have no complaints about the students, who are truly the real gems
of Puerto de la Torre. I will surely miss them.
Thank you so much CEIP Salvador Allende for such a marvelous year! My heart has grown bigger.

Querido personal, estudiantes y padres:
Es mayo, lo que significa que el año con los estudiantes ha llegado a su fin. Ha sido un gran año en Salvador Allende, un año lleno de risas y aprendizaje para los alumnos y para mí. Llegué un poco más tarde al comienzo del curso escolar, en Noviembre, no sabiendo qué podía esperar en mi segundo año como asistente lingüística. Procedente del norte de España, no estaba segura de lo diferente que sería Andalucía, sin embargo, estaba emocionada de estar en el maravilloso Puerto de la Torre. Según busqué en Google, el Puerto de la Torre era una pequeña joya escondida en Málaga, pero lo que he recibido ha sido más de lo que podía esperar.
Gracias a los maestros,
administrativos y cocineros por vuestra amabilidad. Me ha llegado al corazón lo cariñoso y lo
cercanos que son los unos con los otros.
No sé lo que más echaré de menos, si las conversaciones con los
compañeros, el tiempo de recreo o los almuerzos.
Con respecto a los alumnos, he tenido la oportunidad de enseñarles diferentes asignaturas junto a distintos maestros, que me han ayudado a mejorar en mi labor de enseñanza. Ha sido muy divertido hacer experimentos en Conocimiento, así como juegos de gramática y retos. He conseguido no solo enseñar inglés, además mostrar mi cultura americana y peruana.
Los alumnos y alumnas son verdaderas joyas del Puerto de la Torre. Estoy
segura de que les echaré de menos.
