Explorando nuestro Universo

MY FIRST MONTH AT CEIP SALVADOR ALLENDE BY TEACHER OLIVIA

I have just finished my first month as an English language assistant at Salvador Allende school, where I have been assisting teacher Gracia and teacher Eva in 3A and 3B.

It has been challenging, but of course very exciting and fun.

We began with an introduction about me and about England. The students were very receptive and excited to learn about British culture. We then played some games to see how much they understood from the presentation. I also decorated a corner of the school with pictures of the UK and my family. With small groups of students, we practiced saying what we could see on the board, and by the end they were able to point out important landmarks of London and say some sentences about themselves: their favourite colours, animals, and food.

In English lessons we have been revising numbers, colours, and greetings using worksheets and songs. The students are doing really well and their English is getting better every day. In Natural Sciences we have been learning about the five senses. We have learned how to differentiate between the senses and the sense organs, and have been doing lots of activities to practice the vocabulary. In Physical Education we have been learning parts of the body as we warm up for the activities, and it has been really fun to get to know the students outside of the classroom setting.

For Halloween, we watched a video about how we celebrate the holiday in the UK, and then did some worksheets to practice vocabulary about different types of monsters. It was very fun! Next week we are going to learn about Guy Fawkes Day, a very unique holiday. I am looking forward to teaching the students about this special part of British culture.

Everyone at Salvador Allende has been very friendly and welcoming. Teacher Gracia has been so helpful and kind, and has made my transition into the school really easy and enjoyable. I cannot thank her enough for welcoming me to Málaga and the school, and for everything she has done for me. Thank you also to teacher Eva, who has also been very helpful and understanding. I will miss working with them both on a daily basis, as this is my last week with year 3 before I start assisting with year 4.

I have had so much fun working with 3A and 3B, I will miss everyone but I am looking forward to meeting all the other year groups!
