A Virtual Goodbye!

Although this is not the goodbye to Salvador Allende I expected here we go!

While our time was cut short- it has truly taught me so much about teaching, being in the classroom and having so much fun! At Salvador Allende I was so lucky to be able to do a mixture of small group and full class activities ranging from learning and teaching about plants to migration! It has been fantastic to learn so many different topics through a range of writing, reading, listening and speaking activities especially through the use of different multimedia such as songs and videos and worksheets.

I am so sad that I haven’t been able to say goodbye to the beautiful Malaga! Malaga and Andalucia have truly stolen my heart. What an absolutely wonderful city that you are all so lucky to live in. I am going to miss the incredible sunshine, views, sunsets and sunrises and the beautiful landscapes and especially the beaches. Gosh am I sad to not be able to be with you next year in the sunshine while I am in rainy London… Don’t you worry I will be back!! I can’t stay away from Spain forever. And if you are ever in London make sure to come enjoy it and speak as much English as you can! We love it when you come and I hope you all have such an incredible time in what I like to think is a fantastic city.

But most of all, I am going to miss you all! I am really going to miss not being able to go to Salvador Allende anymore and that I won’t be able to give you guys a hug so UN ABRAZO MUY GRANDE. It is a fantastic school which cares about it’s students and auxiliares so much. I am doing a massive goodbye over here and hope we can speak again soon. A massive thank you to all the teachers on the bilingual team- thanks so much for supporting and advising me. It’s been great to work along side you. And especially a massive thank you to Gracia, you have been so helpful and loving welcoming me into the Salvador Allende family and I will not forget it.

SPRING UPDATE BY HOLLY CARTER, OUR LANGUAGE ASSISTANT

Hi all, 

I hope you are keeping safe and looking after each other at this difficult time. I am thinking of you all lots and hope we can be reunited soon. I am going to use this time at school in order to update the blogpost about my time at Salvador Allende. 

I have been at Salvador Allende now since the start of October and I have had an incredible experience. 

Since October in the various grades, we have been learning the curriculum through a series of games, songs and activities which we have all enjoyed together. They are wonderful students who are so engaged and excited to practice English and it is so exciting to be able to work with them and see their language improving. Throughout the different years, we have used a variety of different activities including online quizzes and games in order to revise and learn the content. These have been very useful in promoting teamwork and working collaboratively when revising. 

Salvador Allende has given me an amazing cultural experience and I hope that I have given it in return. I have been so lucky to learn so much about Malaga, Andalucia and Spain overall through my experience at this school. We have done activities about Guy Fawks night (English traditional holiday), Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day and Andalucia day. Using a variety of listening, speaking, reading and listening activities in order to enhance this. I hope that we will e able to do some activities for Easter either online or hopefully in person soon.

The community at Salvador Allende has really opened its arms to me and welcomed me as it’s own which has been super meaningful which has made the experience of moving to a different country and the drastic changes involved so easy. The staff and students at this school are so beautiful and I hope to see them all soon. 

I am going to be hopefully setting up a blog also, so students can find fun online activities to practice as well as games- from grammar exercises to vocabulary. I hope this will be useful for when studying at home.

Diseño de la LESSON

El pasado mes de enero se mantuvieron en el centro dos reuniones del proyecto de innovación.
El 16 y el 21 de enero se reunieron en el CEIP Salvador Allende, los estudiantes de la UMA, el equipo Bilingüe y las profesoras de la UMA.
Recordamos que las Lesson Study son un conjunto de prácticas, hábitos, relaciones interpersonales y herramientas que ayudan al profesor a trabajar de forma cooperativa en un proceso de acción e investigación. Se mantiene el foco de atención en el aprendizaje de los estudiantes,se mejora la enseñanza en su contexto real y se fortalece el desarrollo de competencias profesionales en comunidades de aprendizaje.

La metodología de las Lesson supone un diseño conjunto, que lleva consigo la coordinación, el debate y  el diálogo del equipo.

Las intervenciones fueron muy valiosas, en un ambiente enriquecedor, llegándose a dibujar las líneas de la Lesson que se pondrá en práctica en el meses de marzo y abril.
La Lesson se centrará en  las destrezas de listening tratando de fomentar la adquisición de estrategias de comprensión, que el alumnado podrá no solo usar en la L2, sino también en la comprensión de textos orales de cualquier lengua.
No quisiera dejar de usar esta plataforma para agradecer la implicación, colaboración y asistencia de las docentes de la UMA, Elvira Barrios Espinosa y Aurora Carretero Ramos.

¨ VINCULANDO LA TEORÍA UNIVERSITARIA A LA PRÁCTICA DOCENTE BILINGÜE EN EL CEIP SALVADOR ALLENDE III¨

El CEIP Salvador Allende es un centro vivo, que cuenta con un claustro que está en una constante formación y búsqueda para mejorar su práctica docente. De este modo,  se continúa trabajando este año, en colaboración con el profesorado de la UMA y los estudiantes de magisterio en el proyecto de innovación educativa, titulado ¨ VINCULANDO LA TEORÍA UNIVERSITARIA A LA PRÁCTICA DOCENTE BILINGÜE EN EL CEIP SALVADOR ALLENDE III¨.

Durante estos tres cursos se ha trabajado  en la búsqueda y reflexión para mejorar nuestra práctica educativa. 

Durante el primer curso, se realizó un  exhaustivo diagnóstico y análisis del contexto y de la situación de partida. En el segundo curso,  se realizó un  estudio y primeros diseños de una metodología cooperativa y reflexiva las Lesson Study.  De este modo, se proseguirá la vinculación del trabajo docente universitario de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación de Málaga con nuestro centro educativo iniciado el curso 2017/18 con una colaboración contextualizada, colaborativa, consensuada y participativa. Se pretende seguir incidiendo  en nuestro  proyecto común que parte de un interés común, basado en la mejora del proceso de enseñanza- aprendizaje, el cual  lleva consigo una mejora en los resultados del alumnado del CEIP Salvador Allende .

Así, damos comienzo a este tercer curso con los siguientes objetivos: 

1º Continuar. en la profundización metodológica de las Lesson Study.

2ºCreación y diseño de materiales propios para el desarrollo y puesta en práctica de las Lesson Study. Vinculando la teoría universitaria con la práctica docente.

3º Puesta en práctica de los diseños realizados de forma coordinada de las Lesson Study.

4ºReflexionar sobre los resultados del diseño realizado de las diferentes Lesson Study.

5º Como consecuencia de lo anterior, y finalidad del proyecto, se pretende mejorar tanto resultados del  aprendizaje competencial y global del alumnado de Educación Primaria del CEIP Salvador Allende.

Para lograr estos objetivos debemos agradecer la participación  de  tres sectores diferentes de la comunidad educativa que conforman un gran equipo :

De este modo, el pasado jueves 21 de noviembre, se realizó en el centro la primera reunión con la  presentación del proyecto y cronograma.

Todos los asistentes mostraron su entusiasmo, participando de forma activa .

The senses, bones and muscles

Una vez puesto en marcha el curso 2019/2020, durante el pasado mes de octubre comenzamos en el área de ciencias naturales con los alumnos de 6º trabajando la función de relación y dentro de ella hemos trabajado los 5 sentidos, los huesos y los músculos entre otros aspectos.

Con los alumnos de 6ºA hemos estados elaborando unos dibujos en gran tamaño de los 5 sentidos, han sido divididos en 4 grupos y cada uno de ellos se ha encargado de realizar la tarea encomendada sobre cada uno de los sentidos, la vista, el tacto y el oído han sido hechos en murales individuales, mientras que el gusto y el olfato están dentro del mismo trabajo.


Cada uno de los sentidos lleva detalladas las partes y su correspondiente nombre, todos ellos trabajados en lengua inglesa durante las dos semanas de duración de la unidad didáctica, en la que también hemos empleado algún video como el siguiente.

Respecto a los huesos y los músculos hemos estado aprendiendo diferentes partes del esqueleto y de la musculatura humana, una de las tareas ha sido el dibujo de un esqueleto y un cuerpo humano con sus músculos, aquí podéis ver el resultado de algunos de los trabajos hechos por los alumnos.

My first month at Salvador Allende.

Hello! My name is Holly Carter-Rich and I am the new language and cultural assistant for this school year at Salvador Allende. This is my first year in the auxiliar programme and I am learning so much and loving every bit. I am really enjoying living in Malaga and living by the beach, very different to my home in London! There is barely any rain- it is great!

My first month at Salvador Allende has been very busy but so rewarding. I have been welcomed with open arms into the school by all the students and staff, which has been so lovely to experience and I have really appreciated. Before my first day as the language assistant, I was lucky enough to be greeted by Gracia and have a tour of the school and meet some of the staff and students. This meant I could get a feel of the school and begin to adapt quickly. I instantly fell in love with the school because of the people, the art and the work, I definitely felt like it was my kind of place! And I keep loving it more and more every day.

I am very pleased that I get to work with each class and therefore can work in every year which is teaching me so much! Having to learn how to teach English and adapt my teaching style between the first grade and sixth grade has been really useful and really fun. This also means I get to work with lots of different teachers which is really great, and means I can learn about lots of different teaching styles etc. 

All the students at Salvador Allende are so wonderful and warm. I love that everywhere I go I get a wave, or a “Hi, Teacher Holly!” and sometimes even a hug. It is really great being able to chat with the students around the school and be able to interact with them when we are walking between lessons as well. We have done various different activities including singing and colouring activities about Halloween in Grade 1 to independent group work in Grade 4. I was also lucky enough to be able to be here for our amazing Halloween Party which I absolutely loved, it was so great to see them all in their costumes.

This year I am really looking forward to learning from all the teachers and being able to practice and improve my teaching style and my work in the classroom, as well as supporting them during classroom and group activities. I am also excited to be able to share traditions and things of cultural significance from the U.K with all the children and also be able to learn so much about Spain at the same time. I think it is going to be a great and beneficial experience for both. Thank you for all the help and support from the staff and student at Salvador Allende for my first month on the job and I can’t wait for our upcoming year.
